Going into the Heat of the Battle

Today… if you are facing a giant that has been in your land for some time … there is a new hope. This is the hope of tenacity. Tenacity is the quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly (Google.com). Tenacity is the ability to keep fighting, but purposeful fighting that has the hope of victory. Tenacity alone is not enough. In Christianity, the battles we face within our souls are determined by our tenacious spirit. All that’s within you, as a born-again believer, is already victorious, but our fallen souls must be redeemed by our saved spirits. We do not go into battle without victory leading us. We cannot face a giant that is stronger than us. Nor do we go of our own will and strength. The victory has been determined on the cross, what you do with it, remains to be your victory.

To put it into perspective, there are habits and old experiences that continue to haunt us. They determine how we live today. They continue to dictate our perspectives and feelings. Christ came not only to set the spirit free, but the soul and body with it. Today, there is no excuse for our behavior, attitudes, and feelings. We were not bought with cheap coin, but with the blood of the one and only holy Man. He has determined your thoughts and actions to be set free from all bondage and if you are not, well then, Calvary hasn’t fully taken place in your heart yet.

A tenacious spirit doesn’t come easily, but it starts with a choice. A choice to be victorious, a choice to be patient, a choice to be content, a choice to endure, a choice to have hope. The question today is how are you dealing with the giants in your land? Are you overcoming in the heat of the battle? Or is your foe continuing to be triumphant over you?

When the heat of the battle comes, you may not be ready for it, but it is here that your giant falls. When you feel the pressure of everything around you closing in, it is here where the fighting gets tough. It remains tough until you begin to welcome the pressure not as a foe, but as an agent of victory. In this heat, you will begin squirming, looking for a way out, to past sins, to past relationships, to past thought patterns, to past hobbies. You become very uncomfortable, seeking relief, something to satisfy your soul.

This is where giants are slayed. If you persevere and make a determined step towards your victory, you will be victorious. There is only success for the one who makes the right step. As all things in Christianity, they do not seem appetizing at first, but when you produce that fruit, all things have never been better. For instance, patience is a fruit of the spirit. For most of us, patience is a hard word, an unwelcoming aroma, and therefore very few attain that fruit, unwilling to produce it. Little do we realize, if we persevere towards it, patience is a luscious fruit, that produces a quality of life like no other. If nothing else convinces you to become a patient person, take this illustration home with you. Imagine that patience is an apple. You attitude towards patience determines the quality of the apple. To this point, some of you have been eating a rotten apple, while others have been eating a tasteless apple. But how many of you would like to eat the luscious tasty apple? Well then, I illustrate the quality of life to this apple. Our quality of life is determined by the fruits of our spirit, and whether they are produced within us or not. Remember, your spirit has got it (if born-again) but your soul has yet to attain it. What are you appetizing your soul with today? Learn to be patient, allow the Spirit to work it within you, so that your quality of life may change for the better.

Therefore, the same happens in the heat of the battle. We suppose that it is too hard and not worth fighting, but the matter of fact is that we just don’t realize how much greener the grass is on the other side. Accept the pressure you are facing today, determine your victory, and you shall come out as a dazzling diamond, pleasing to both God and men.
